If done properly cold air intakes are great, when done ebay or any other cheap method the air turns to water and you have a lovely straw on the streets of Florida in our flash downpour days.. witness to a couple diff buddies running standard single pipe cold air intake with a K&N filter on MKIV Jetta/GTI turn two diff motors to trash, but lovely excuse to do a motor build, i saw several others with same setup as above, luck out with a very large bill or hours of their time spent removing the water from various parts of the intake.. SO put one on at your own risk and I'll keep my "I told you so" in the back pocket for a rainy day, pardon the pun..

To make the long above short... NO Suspect

thats the intake i have and ive had no problems with it at all. if your worried about getting water in there just buy a water bypass valve from like ECS. as far as the contruction, a piece of aluminum pipe is a piece of aluminum pipe, bottom line. it works no different than if you go buy a $300 cold air intake.

thats what i should have done than paying 130 for one

An air bypass valve would be a proper setup and take away 99% of the worry. I do remember reading something in the forums or an article about turbo cars having an issue or something running a bypass valve, anybody hear any issue like this?
